OFSTED and PERFORMANCE

Westoning Lower School was inspected in June 2024 and during the inspection the following was noted:

  • Westoning is a happy place and safe place, where pupils flourish.

  • Strong routines are established from the moment children join the school in Nursery. These help pupils to learn the school's high standards of behaviour in their work and play.

  • A positive family ethos permeates the school.

  • The school, with support from the trust, has developed an ambitious curriculum.

  • Most pupils achieve well, particularly in reading.

  • Teachers deliver the curriculum confidently. They design learning activities that make links between past and present learning.

  • Teachers make regular checks on pupils' understanding during lessons. They use these checks to identify gaps in pupil's learning.

  • Behaviour around the school is typically very good.

  • Pupils learn to care about the wider world. Pupils are accepting of difference, in all its forms.

You can get statistics about school performance, including test results, teacher assessments, Ofsted reports and financial information as well as being able to compare schools in your area from the Department of Education website.
